We’re looking for a Shopify expert to join Linford on a freelance or part-time basis. You’ll work on e-commerce builds across a range of industries, from new brand launches to redesigns for established businesses, with a focus on clean code, strong UX, and systems that make life easier for our clients.
This role isn’t just about dev, it’s about understanding the full ecomm experience. That means thinking about how people browse, how they check out, and how clients manage their stores behind the scenes. You should be comfortable building custom themes, adapting existing ones, and advising on best practices for Shopify’s ever-changing ecosystem.
You’ll work closely with our designers and project leads to bring sites to life. Sometimes that means taking a clean Figma file and building it exactly as designed. Other times it means jumping in early to help shape how something should work, and making smart tradeoffs between custom and off-the-shelf solutions.
What you’ll do
As our Shopify Developer & Ecomm Specialist, you’ll lead the technical side of our e-commerce projects - delivering builds that look great, perform well, and are easy to manage long after launch.
- Build and customise Shopify themes to match our designs and brand goals
- Work with our designers to bring concepts to life with speed and accuracy
- Advise clients and internal teams on best practices for structure, apps, and store performance
- Set up everything from product templates and filtering to checkout flow and customer accounts
- Optimise for speed, accessibility, SEO, and backend usability
- Help troubleshoot bugs or issues on existing Shopify sites (yours or not)
- Stay up to date with Shopify updates, app trends, and development standards
What we’re looking for
We’re after someone who knows Shopify well, but also understands the context behind the build: the business, the customer, the team that’s going to maintain it.
- You’ve built full stores using Shopify 2.0 and are confident with Liquid, HTML/CSS, JS
- You know when to customise and when to configure, and can explain why
- You’ve worked with app integrations (like Recharge, Klaviyo, Searchspring, etc.) and know what to recommend
- You’re detail-oriented and care about front-end polish as much as backend structure
- You’re comfortable working solo, but collaborate well when it counts
- You’re not just a builder, you can explain decisions clearly to non-technical clients
- You have strong opinions on how a good ecomm store should work
This is a freelance or part-time role with flexible hours. Fully remote. UK or EU timezone preferred.
How to apply
Send us a short message about your experience with Shopify, along with links to a few stores you’ve helped build. If you didn’t do the whole thing, just tell us what your part was — we value honesty over hype.
