The role
We're looking for an AI & Automation Engineer who is interested in what artificial intelligence can actually do for businesses, beyond the headlines and demonstrations.
You'll design and develop AI-powered solutions that simplify complex processes, connect business systems and create new ways of working.
From intelligent agents and automated workflows to API integrations and custom applications, you'll work on projects where technology needs to deliver a clear, practical outcome.
As an early member of Linford's AI team, you'll also help establish our technical standards, development processes and approach to delivering reliable AI systems.
What you'll be doing
- Designing, building and maintaining AI agents and automated workflows.
- Integrating large language models into business processes and applications.
- Connecting platforms through APIs, webhooks and Model Context Protocol (MCP).
- Developing automation solutions for CRM, sales, operations and customer support.
- Working with tools such as OpenAI APIs, n8n, Make and relevant automation frameworks.
- Building custom integrations between existing business systems.
- Testing and improving the accuracy, reliability and performance of AI solutions.
- Implementing appropriate security, privacy and human oversight controls.
- Documenting technical processes and supporting client adoption.
- Researching emerging technologies and assessing their practical applications.
What we're looking for
- Strong programming experience, preferably with Python or JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Experience working with APIs, webhooks and system integrations.
- Practical knowledge of large language models and AI application development.
- Familiarity with automation platforms and workflow orchestration.
- An understanding of databases, authentication and cloud-based infrastructure.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to translate business requirements into reliable technical solutions.
- An interest in emerging technology, balanced with sound engineering judgement.
Experience with AI agent frameworks, retrieval-augmented generation, MCP, cloud infrastructure or enterprise software integrations would be particularly valuable.
